132 - 400kV Appreciation Course (Cross Boundary Interfaces)
This two-day training course is designed for anyone involved in developing or operating a transmission connection with NGET/ESO, providing essential insight into working across cross-boundary interfaces.
As new connections increasingly operate at higher voltages, working with NGET and ESO can be a complex and challenging process. This course provides clear guidance on managing cross-boundary activities during the final stages of commissioning and the transition into operations.
By the end of the course attendees will
- Understand the hazards of electricity
- Understand how behavioural factors can impact electrical operations
- Produce switching schedules and have practical experience switching out circuits using field/ control room communications protocols and terminology
- Recognise the equipment and features of air insulated switchgear
- Understand the typical boundary points between the user and NGET
- Recognise the sources and dangers of impressed voltages
- Understand the applicable NESO National Safety Instructions, especially NSI 2, applying primary and portable earths
- Managing cross boundary safety through RISSP documents and a practical exercise to issue and receive a RISSP
- Develop an IV management plan for the users substation
